The furniture available at George Jaques's
shop includes furniture for all areas of the home and camp. Our
specialty is dining furniture such as large dining tables with
tops constructed of 2 inch thick antique flooring, yellow birch
legs, and birchbark adorned skirts. The chairs are traditional
hickory style ( reminiscent of Indiana hickory). Sideboards and
servers are done in several styles and sizes. All are constructed
using traditional joinery such as dovetail drawers. Some of the
most beautiful birch bark in the world is used as facing. Most
pieces are barked with sheets of bark from the same tree, so the
pattern matches from all sides. Legs are constructed from the
Golden Adirondack birch tree, which is kilned dried before use.
Our furniture can be
seen in past issues of Country Living magazine, Automobile Magazine
Great Drives, Northeast Antiques, Great Colonial Homes, Cover
North Country Dining Guide, Country Log Homes, Victoria Magazine,
Arts and Antiques, and in several of Ralph Kylloes rustic furniture
books.
